The 73’s defeat the Canadians 4-3

Peter Brooks came up big, stopping 44 of 47 shots throughout the game. The Kemptville 73’s took the lead before the halfway point in the third on a goal from Jacob Thousand.

Neal Samanski “a” contributed with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and John Beaton had no trouble finding the scoresheet, adding 2 assists. Peyton Francis delivered for his team with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Justin Cmunt chipped in with 2 assists.

In the first, Kitt opened the scoring for Carleton Place with a goal at 17:29 with helpers from his linemates, Knoblauch and Cmunt.

In the second, Broughman put in a goal at 0:09 with helpers from his linemates, Allison and Francis. Hunter “a” finally put Kemptville on the board with a goal at 4:25 with assists from Holtrop and Mcgrath. Conley quickly followed with a goal at 5:33 with a helper from fellow 73’s forward Kirkby “c”. Samanski “a” deposited a goal at 17:58 with assists from his linemates, Beaton and Kirkby “c”. Francis quickly followed with a goal at 19:34 with helpers from his teammates Cmunt and Meikle.

During the third period, Thousand answered for the 73’s with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 8:58 with assists from his linemates, Samanski “a” and Beaton.

The 73’s’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Brooks’ big night as he stopped 44 of the 47 shots he faced. Brooks’ counterpart, Leach, also had a big night, managing to stop 26 of 30, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Kemptville 73’s’ record to (6-9-0-0).
