The 1st period set the stage for Kemptville’s success, with Logue scoring a power-play goal in the final seconds, assisted by Fennell and Loreto. The game remained tight with no scoring in the 2nd period, but penalties on both sides added to the intensity.

In the 3rd period, Nepean managed to level the score with a power-play goal from Sturgeon, making it 1-1. The teams continued to battle, but regulation time couldn’t determine a winner.

The overtime period was brief but decisive, with Logue netting his second goal of the game just 20 seconds in, assisted by Whyte and Thomas. This sudden victory showcased Kemptville’s determination and skill.

Kemptville’s goaltender, Biron, played a pivotal role, making 26 saves out of 27 shots. Kemptville outshot Nepean 39 to 27, highlighting their offensive prowess.

With this hard-fought win, the Kemptville 73’s displayed their resilience and teamwork, emerging victorious against the Nepean Raiders in overtime to open the season.

Final Score: Smiths Falls 4, Kemptville 0

In a challenging game at the North Grenville Municipal Centre on Sunday, September 24, 2023, the Smiths Falls Bears dominated against the Kemptville 73’s, securing a decisive victory with a final score of 4-0.

The 1st period saw no scoring, but both teams engaged in a competitive battle. However, the game took a significant turn in the 2nd period, as Smiths Falls quickly took control. They scored four goals in rapid succession, with goals from Dimaline, McIntosh, Faucher, and another from Faucher.

Despite Kemptville’s efforts, they couldn’t find the back of the net throughout the game. The 3rd period remained scoreless, but the Bears maintained their lead.

The goaltenders played crucial roles, with Biron of the Kemptville 73’s facing a barrage of shots and making 46 saves. However, Smiths Falls’ Vilandre held a shutout, stopping all 17 shots he faced.

Despite a strong effort by the Kemptville 73’s, the Smiths Falls Bears emerged victorious with a final score of 4-0.  Kemptville’s Biron showcased impressive goaltending with 46 saves, as the 73’s will look to bounce back in our next game Wednesday night vs Hawkesbury.
