Kemptville 73’s surged past the Nepean Raiders in a dominant second period to secure a 5-2 victory.

Nepean opened the scoring in the first period when Papineau netted his second goal of the season off an assist from Benoit at 11:43. Both teams exchanged penalties, but Kemptville couldn’t capitalize, leaving Nepean ahead 1-0 after the first.

Kemptville responded with authority in the second period, scoring four unanswered goals. Graves started the comeback with a power-play goal at 5:28, followed by Trottier’s first of three goals just over a minute later. Benoit briefly tied it up for Nepean at 10:19, but Kemptville continued to push forward. Trottier added his second goal at 11:39, followed by Loreto at 14:59. Trottier completed his hat trick at 16:20, also on the power play, putting Kemptville up 5-2 heading into the third.

The final period saw no scoring, but both teams traded penalties.

Kemptville’s offense overwhelmed Nepean, outshooting them 41-28, while their power play proved decisive, converting 2 of 3 opportunities. Nepean went 0 for 5 on the power play, struggling to find a way past Bennett, who made 26 saves for Kemptville.

Trottier’s hat trick powered Kemptville to victory, improving their season record to 2-1-0, while Nepean’s Gedraitis made 36 saves in a losing effort.

Kemptville Triumphs Over Navan 5-3

The game between Kemptville and Navan was a hard-fought battle, with Kemptville coming out on top with a 5-3 victory.

Both teams started cautiously, with no goals scored in the opening frame. Navan’s Jenken took the only penalty of the period at 8:24 for interference, but Kemptville couldn’t capitalize.

The second period saw Navan take an early lead when Johnson scored at 4:27, assisted by Carpenter and Kingwell. However, Kemptville quickly responded as Esposito tied the game at 7:08. Despite penalties on both sides, including a late “too many men” call on Kemptville, the period ended tied at 1-1.

The third period was action-packed, with Kemptville pulling ahead thanks to four goals. Navan initially regained the lead on a power-play goal by Carpenter at 1:08, but Kemptville’s Sweetapple equalized just a minute later on their own power play. Bennett then put Kemptville ahead with a goal at 4:44, before Navan’s Kingwell tied the game again at 15:17.

Kemptville took control late in the game, with Trottier scoring at 15:40 and McDougall sealing the win with an empty-net goal at 19:59. Donovan stood tall in the net stopping 26/29 shots.
