In a thrilling match at the Carleton Place Arena, the Kemptville 73’s faced off against the Carleton Place Canadians in a high-stakes battle that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final buzzer. The Canadians came into the game with determination, looking to secure a crucial victory on their home ice.

The first period saw both teams trading blows as they jockeyed for control of the game. Carleton Place struck first, with Enrietto finding the back of the net just 2 minutes and 15 seconds into the period, igniting the home crowd with excitement. However, Kemptville quickly responded with a goal of their own, courtesy of Melvin, who capitalized on a well-executed play assisted by Shaw at the 14:09 mark. As the game progressed into the second period, both teams tightened up defensively, resulting in a scoreless frame. Despite several power play opportunities for both sides, neither team could capitalize, thanks in large part to the stellar play of the goaltenders and the disciplined defensive efforts of both squads. The period concluded with the score deadlocked at 1-1, setting the stage for a dramatic third period showdown.

The third period proved to be the deciding factor in the contest, as the Carleton Place Canadians turned up the heat and seized control of the game. With time winding down, Kinloch Varga stepped up for Carleton Place, netting two clutch goals in the final minutes of play. The first came at 19:34, assisted by Mathews and Enrietto, breaking the tie and putting the Canadians ahead. Despite a valiant effort from Kemptville, highlighted by the outstanding performance of goaltender Biron, who made 37 saves on 39 shots, it wasn’t enough to overcome the relentless offensive pressure from Carleton Place. Vandenberg stood tall between the pipes for the Canadians, turning aside 31 of the 32 shots he faced to secure the 3-1 victory for his team.

Though Kemptville fought hard until the very end, it was Carleton Place who emerged a head on this Sunday afternoon at the Carleton Place Arena. The 73’s now await their fate for playoffs as the remainder of the regular season games finish.
