Despite a strong defensive effort, Kemptville fell short in a tight 2-1 loss to Smiths
Falls.Kemptville was forced to play a disciplined game early as they faced three penalties throughout the first period, but the penalty kill remained solid as neither team could find the back of the net, leaving the period scoreless.
Kemptville struck first at 8:17 of the second period when Dumont, assisted by Sweetapple and Shaw, found the net to give his team the 1-0 lead. Smiths Falls responded late in the period, however, tying the game 1-1 at 17:45 with a goal from Heron.
Kemptville’s power play had an opportunity after a high-sticking penalty on Ouellette, but they were unable to capitalize.
The third period saw both teams pushing hard for the game-winner. Despite a valiant effort from Kemptville’s goaltender Bennett, who made 31 saves on 33 shots, Smiths Falls broke the deadlock at 19:38 with a late goal from Ouellette, securing the 2-1 victory.
Kemptville’s strong defense and Bennett’s stellar performance kept the game close, but the late goal by Smiths Falls ultimately sealed the game.

Kemptville 4, Ottawa 5 (OT)
Kemptville started strong and dominated early, but a relentless comeback by Ottawa led to a 5-4 overtime loss for Kemptville in a thrilling matchup.
Kemptville took control of the game late in the first period when Graves opened the scoring at 16:55, assisted by Voisey and Sweetapple, giving the team a 1-0 lead. Despite a late penalty to Esposito, Kemptville held firm defensively, heading into the second period with momentum.
Kemptville’s offense exploded in the second period. Dumont extended the lead to 2-0 just over five minutes in, with Voisey and Rutley picking up assists. Moments later, Graves scored his second of the game on the power play, assisted by McDougall and Sweetapple, to make it 3-0. Kemptville continued to press, and Shaw netted his first of the season at 15:11, set up by Dumont and Loreto, pushing the lead to 4-0.
Ottawa had difficulty keeping up, and Kemptville capitalized on their chances, outshooting Ottawa 21-4 in the period.
Ottawa stormed back in the third period with a series of quick goals. Matsukubo scored just 57 seconds into the period on a power play, followed by another goal from St. Michel at 2:18, cutting Kemptville’s lead to 4-2. Ottawa’s Matsukubo struck again at 5:06, bringing the score to 4-3, and Guillemette tied it at 4-4 with a power-play goal at 11:57.
Kemptville’s offense stalled in the third, and despite their strong start, Ottawa’s surge made it a brand new game.
In overtime, Ottawa’s Brennan completed the comeback, scoring at 2:14 on a feed from Matsukubo to win the game 5-4.
