Kemptville 1, Pembroke 2

Kemptville started strong in their matchup against Pembroke, taking an early lead in the first period. Just under three minutes in, Bennett found the net with assists from Gilmour and Stubbings, giving Kemptville a 1-0 advantage. This early goal showcased Kemptville’s offensive potential and set an energetic pace for the game. However, Pembroke pushed back, capitalizing on a power play opportunity later in the period when Barnard scored, tying the game 1-1. Both teams exchanged penalties, but neither could gain a significant advantage as the first period ended in a deadlock.

The second period saw intense back-and-forth action, with both teams creating scoring opportunities but ultimately coming up short. Kemptville continued to put pressure on Pembroke’s defense. Pembroke’s goalie, Modelski, held firm. Kemptville’s disciplined defense and Bennett’s solid performance in goal, turning aside 11 shots in this period alone, kept the score even, setting up a nail-biting final period.

In the third, Kemptville continued to fight hard, generating 12 shots on goal and maintaining a strong defensive presence. Yet, with time winding down, Pembroke’s Cardiff managed to break the tie with just 23 seconds left in regulation. Despite Kemptville’s relentless effort and outshooting Pembroke 29-28 overall, they fell just short, with Modelski’s 28 saves ultimately sealing the win for Pembroke.
