Ashton Fry Gongshow 2nd Star for January

Ottawa, Ontario – The Central Canada hockey League is proud to announce that Ottawa Jr. Senators ’98 F Owen Guy, Kemptville 73’s ’98 F Ashton Fry and Jr. Sens ’99 F Finn Evans have been named Gongshow Gear Three Stars of the Month for January.

Guy, 19, earns himself January’s first star after scoring eight goals and 11 points over ten games. The Mountian, Ontario native also scored two game winning goals last month. Both coming against Kanata and one in overtime.

“Owen has been playing his best hockey for us since the beginning of the new year. Most people will look at his stats and say he’s on a nice run right now, but for our coaching staff, it’s his overall two-way play, and the fact that he’s been leading by example every night that impresses us the most” said Ottawa Jr. Senators Head Coach, Martin Dagenais on the award.

The Lake Superior State commit (2018-19) is T-6th among league leaders in points with 51 and his 25 goals ranks fourth in the CCHL.

Fry, 19, the Second Star of the Month for January scored four goals and three assists over eight games – including goals in four straight contests. Leading the 73’s to a 4-3-1 record.

“Ashton is very deserving of this award. He shows up to compete every day and he makes guys around him better. He’s a very smart & honest athlete who contributes to the team in so many ways” explained Kemptville Head Coach Jeff Jordan on Fry’s accomplishment.

The Highlands Ranch, CO, native currently leads the 73’s in points (37) and goals (18) making the un-committed forward the teams scoring leader.

Evans, 18, our Third Star of the Month posted ten points, including five goals over eight games. The Princeton University commit for 2018-19 helped Ottawa to a 8-1-1 record in the month of January.

“Finn has been a different player since he has been back from the World Junior A Challenge. He had a slow start after joining our team, and we could see that he wasn’t happy with his overall game. His line with Chiwetin Blacksmith, and Isaac Anderson have been very good for us lately, and they are one of the main reasons why our team is currently playing his best hockey. Finn is the type of player who elevates his game in crunch time, so we think he will be even better when the playoffs start” noted Dagenais on Evans overall play last month.

The Toronto, Ontario, native has 20 points (11G/9A) since joining the Junior Senators in November.
